SYDNEY FILM FESTIVAL – LEXUS AUSTRALIA SHORT FILM FELLOWSHIP

Gifthorse Collective’s Anya Beyersdorf has won one of the four inaugural Sydney Film Festival  Lexus Australia Short Film Fellowships. The prestigious $50,000 prize is a grant to make a new short film which will premiere at the Sydney Film Festival in 2017.

The fellows were selected from a shortlist of 21 emerging filmmakers nominated by The Weinstein Company from more than 355 Australians who entered the global Lexus Short Film series last year.

Production has now started on the fellowship film – HOW THE LIGHT GETS IN – the story of a mother and her daughters living on the fringes of society. Mama is awoken one night by a bright light shining from inside her which they must hide from the outside world.

Nicole Coventry is producing, and visual team is led by cinematographer Warwick Field ACS and production designer Emmeline Dulhunty. Composer is John Kilbey.
